Is my photo uploaded when I remove the background?
No. The background removal runs on your device, inside your browser. The AI model files are downloaded to your browser, but that's files coming to you. Your photo isn't sent to anyone, including us.
Does it work on product photos or pets?
Not reliably. The AI model is built to find people, so it does best with selfies, portraits and passport photos. On a product or a pet with no person in the shot, it may cut out the wrong area.
Why is it slow the first time?
Your browser has to download the AI model once. After that it's cached, so it starts much faster.
How do I make a transparent background?
Choose Transparent as the background. The download will be a PNG, because that format keeps transparency.
Can I make a passport photo background white?
Yes. Choose White and download it as a JPG. The tool only swaps the background, though. It doesn't check any other photo rules, so see what your form asks for.
Why are the edges rough around hair?
Loose hair and cluttered backgrounds are hard for any background remover. A photo where the person stands against a plain wall, with decent light, gives much cleaner edges.
