Image & Signature Requirements for Indian Online Forms
Many government exams, portal registrations and online application forms in India set strict file size limits for photos and signatures, usually under 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. BundleFlow compresses your photo locally in your browser, so it never leaves your device, and gets it under the limit with the best quality that size allows.
| Exam / Portal | Photograph Size | Signature Size | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC (CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD) | 20 KB - 50 KB | 10 KB - 20 KB | JPG / JPEG |
| UPSC (Civil Services, NDA, CDS) | 20 KB - 300 KB | 20 KB - 300 KB | JPG / JPEG |
| IBPS / SBI Bank Exams | 20 KB - 50 KB | 10 KB - 20 KB | JPG / JPEG |
| NEET / JEE Main (NTA) | 10 KB - 200 KB | 4 KB - 30 KB | JPG / JPEG |
Typical limits, last checked October 2026. Portals can change sizes, formats and pixel dimensions with each notification, so always confirm in the official notice before you upload.
Compress Signature & Passport Photos for Government Exams
Filling out an online application for SSC (CGL, CHSL, GD, MTS), the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB NTPC, Group D), UPSC, IBPS Bank PO/Clerk or NTA NEET/JEE? These portals reject a passport photo, signature or thumb impression that's over their size limit, often 10 KB or 20 KB. Check the notice for the exact number.
Choose that size here and the tool brings your scanned signature, thumb impression or passport photo to it or just under, keeping the ink and your face as clear as the limit allows. Your documents stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to Compress an Image to 10KB
- 1Pick your image (JPG, PNG or WebP).
- 2Choose 10 KB as the target size.
- 3Choose an output format: WebP, JPG or PNG.
- 4Tap Compress Image.
- 5Download the smaller file.
Why Compress an Image to 10KB?
Because some forms won't take anything bigger. Exam registration pages, including Indian ones like SSC and UPSC, and plenty of other online portals ask for scanned signatures, thumb impressions or small photos at very low sizes. These portals often set a small KB limit, so check the exact number on the form. Whatever it is, the upload button won't budge until your file fits.
10 KB (about 0.01 MB) is tiny next to a normal phone photo of 3 or 4 MB. Lowering quality alone won't get you there, so the tool also scales the picture down step by step until it fits. Your signature may end up fairly small in pixels, which is fine for a form that shows it in a little box.
If your form allows a bit more room, use it. Compressing to 20KB gives a portrait noticeably more detail and a signature cleaner edges.
Supported Image Formats & Technical Considerations
At this size, pixels are what cost you bytes. A 4000 × 3000 photo has 12 million of them, and a 10KB file can only describe a small slice of that cleanly. So expect the output to be small in dimensions. That trade is what keeps it readable instead of turning into a smear of blocks.
JPG is selected by default because forms with tight limits usually ask for .jpg. WebP packs more detail into the same 10KB, often enough to make text and faces visibly crisper, so pick it if the form accepts it. PNG is a poor fit here. It's lossless, so the only way it reaches 10KB is by shrinking the image a lot.
Signatures and plain portraits compress far better than busy scenes. Big flat areas of white cost almost nothing, while leaves, crowds and patterned clothes eat bytes fast. And all of this happens on your own device, so your signature is never uploaded to a server.
Tips for Getting an Image Under 10KB
- Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper. Black or blue ink on white survives heavy compression best.
- Take the photo in daylight or under a bright lamp. Shadows and grain waste bytes on noise.
- Crop tight around the signature or face before compressing, so the pixels go where they matter.
- Keep JPG if the form says JPG or JPEG, and switch to WebP only if it's listed as allowed.
- If the tool shows a closest size above 10KB, crop tighter or use a cleaner photo and try again. For SSC photo and signature presets, use the SSC Photo Resizer or SSC Signature Resizer.
Benefits
Made for tight limits
If 10 KB can be reached, you get a file at or under 10 KB. If it can't, the tool tells you straight.
Signatures stay readable
Dark ink on white paper holds up surprisingly well, even this small.
Stays on your device

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I compress any image to 10 KB?
Most images, yes, but they'll end up small in pixel size and lose some detail. If the tool can't get there without wrecking the picture, it shows you the closest size it reached instead.
How do I compress my signature under 10 KB without making it blurry?
Sign with black or dark blue ink on plain white paper and take the photo in bright, even light. Crop away the blank margins so only the signature remains, then upload it here with 10 KB and JPG selected. With the empty space gone, those few kilobytes go into keeping the ink lines sharp.
Is this image compressor suitable for SSC, Railway (RRB) and UPSC exam forms?
Yes. Application portals for SSC (CGL, CHSL, GD Constable), the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB NTPC, Group D, ALP), UPSC Civil Services, IBPS and NTA (NEET, JEE) all set strict KB limits for photos, signatures and thumb impressions. The limits differ between exams and can change with each notice, so check the official notification, then pick that size here. The tool brings your file to that limit or just under it, right in your browser.
Why does my 10 KB image look so small on screen?
Because fewer pixels means fewer bytes. To fit 10 KB the tool often has to reduce the dimensions, so the picture is physically smaller. Forms usually show signatures and photos in a small box anyway.
Should I pick JPG or WebP for 10 KB?
JPG if the form asks for it, which most strict forms do. If WebP is accepted, it usually looks a little sharper at the same size.
How do I reduce an image from MB to 10 KB?
Pick your photo, choose 10 KB and tap Compress Image. The tool lowers the quality a little at a time until the file fits, and only shrinks the dimensions if it has to. A 4 MB phone photo normally takes a few seconds.
Can I convert WebP or PNG photos to JPG format for form submission?
Yes. Most Indian exam portals (SSC, UPSC, NTA) ask for JPG/JPEG. Upload your WebP or PNG photo, choose JPG as the output format, and you'll download a compressed .jpg. HEIC photos from iPhones aren't supported yet. On the iPhone, go to Settings > Camera > Formats and choose Most Compatible to take photos as JPG, or share the photo by email or chat, which usually converts it to JPG.
Why is browser-based photo compression safer for exam documents?
Many online resizers upload your ID photo, signature and certificates to their own servers. Here the compression runs inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, so your photo and signature never leave your device and nobody else sees or stores them.
Can I compress multiple images at once?
Not yet, it's one image at a time for now. Once you've downloaded a result, tap “Compress Another Image” and pick the next photo. Bulk compression is on our list.
